Caitlin Thompson: 2025-26 Preceptor of the Year
July 22, 2026

Congratulations to Caitlin Thompson, Pharmacist at the Co-op Pharmacy in Warman on being named the 2025–2026 Preceptor of the Year by the University of Saskatchewan!

Preceptors play a vital role in shaping the next generation of pharmacists by providing mentorship, guidance, and real-world learning experiences during student rotations. Caitlin exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding preceptor—creating a welcoming, supportive, and empowering environment where students can build confidence and develop their professional skills.

Caitlin hopes every student leaves their rotation not only with stronger clinical skills, but with a deeper understanding of people—patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. “I want students to learn how to be the pharmacist they want to be,” she explains. By emphasizing communication and relationships, she models the compassionate, patient‑centered care that defines excellent community pharmacy practice.

She credits her manager and the entire Co‑op Pharmacy team in Warman for supporting experiential learning and helping make her precepting journey possible. For Caitlin, teaching is a collaborative experience: “The more you, as a pharmacist and preceptor, are invested, the more the student will get out of it. We learn together.”

Thank you, Caitlin, for your dedication to teaching, mentorship, and exceptional patient care. Your leadership and passion make a meaningful impact on both students and the community you serve.
