Crop Conditions: 
Generally, crops are rated as good to fair in the region. Recent hot temperatures are causing concern on how well the 2026 crop will finish as soil moisture reserves are rapidly declining.

In the southern portion of our region cereal crops are headed and are at anthesis or milk stages. Pulse crops are coming out of flower and are at pod filling. Oilseed crops are finished flowering for the most part and are in pod fill stage. There is concern that some crops are showing early senescence due to hot dry conditions. In the central and northern areas cereals are headed and in anthesis stages. Pulse crops are still in flowering to early podding stages. Canola is in full bloom to pod development. Forecasts for continued hot and dry weather are causing concerns for final yields.

Some Grow Team members have found aphids and diamondback moth larvae in lentils and canola. Action thresholds haven’t been reached yet but these fields will require continued monitoring. Scouting for bertha armyworm will continue in the next few weeks as there are reports of outbreaks in Saskatchewan. There have been isolated reports of grasshoppers in the Milo and Brooks areas, but levels are barely at economic thresholds.

Spraying Progress: 
Approximately 96% of fungicide and insecticide applications have been completed. Continued crop monitoring will be needed to determine if any later insecticide applications will be required.

Precipitation: 
In the past week there was negligible precipitation was received in the region. There were reports of scattered showers in the Warner and Milo areas.
